Heaven Burns Redis set in a near future where the Earth has been almost completely destroyed by mysterious alien life forms, the “Cancer”. Humanity is on the verge of extinction, but a last glimmer of hope remains: young girls who are able to wield the unique weapons called “Seraph”. These girls are brought together in military units on a base that also functions as a school, where they not only fight for the survival of humanity, but also try to continue their normal lives amidst the threat.
At the center is Ruka Kayamori, a former rock star with a carefree and humorous outlook on life, who now leads her team through tough training, combat and daily life as a squad leader. The atmosphere alternates between light-hearted slice-of-life moments full of music, friendship and comedic interactions, and intense, emotionally charged confrontations with the danger of the Cancer and the dark secrets within the military organization. Despite the post-apocalyptic setting and constant threat, the story is mainly about the bond between people, personal growth and finding hope in the midst of despair.
