Kaiju No. 8Set in a world where gigantic monsters called kaiju regularly attack Japan, a specialized military unit has been formed to protect the population: the Japanese Anti-Kaiju Defense Force. The protagonist, Kafka Hibino, works as a janitor, clearing away the remains of defeated monsters, while secretly dreaming of a more heroic life on the front lines of the battle against kaiju.
Kafka's everyday life takes a drastic turn when he unexpectedly gains the ability to transform into a kaiju himself. With this new power, he searches for his place among the heroes he's always admired, while maintaining his secret and facing inner conflicts and the demanding demands of the Defense Force.
