About the series
Natsume's Book of Friends, also known as Natsume Yūjin-chō, follows Takashi Natsume, a boy who can see spirits. From his grandmother Reiko, he inherits a special book containing the names of spirits she subjugated during her life. Along with the book, Natsume also takes on the responsibility for these spirits, who want their names back.
Together with Madara, a powerful spirit who usually appears as a round, cat-like creature that Natsume calls Nyanko-sensei, he tries to return the names to their original owners. Along the way, he encounters both friendly and dangerous spirits and learns more about his grandmother, his own past, and the meaning of human connection.
The series is known for its warm atmosphere, moving stories, and beautiful balance between supernatural elements and everyday moments.
